Tips

Money

Legal tender in Turkey is the New Turkish Lira (TRY).  I suggest not exchanging money in your home country but taking cash in little banknotes with you and exchanging them in Kas. Coins are not welcome. All shops, hotels etc. accept Euro, US $ and £. Goods are partly priced in these currencies. Change is always given in TRY. In Kas there are several banks with cash dispensers which accept all current cash cards. Money is provided only in TRY. Bying goods, especially at the Friday market, you can haggle. Prices for services (hairdresser, Rent-A-Car, trips etc.) you should determine in advance. The following change quota was valid in June 2009: 1 US$ ~ 1.56 TRY , 1 GB£ ~ 2,30 TRY. There are daily changes. The following might help.

Weather

On the Turkish coast you find Mediterranean climate. The summers are very hot so that the temperature in August can be above 40°C. For activities you should use the mild spring and autumn time. In the following you find a table of the average daily temperatures measured during several years.

 Entry

Foreign Citizens need their valid passport (valid for at least 6 months) for a stay of up to three months. Children under 16 need a child's identity card with photo.

Telephone

The cheapest way of phoning is to buy a phonecard and use a phone box. Receiving conditions for mobiles are very good in Kas. There are various providers available, partly also Greek.

Internet

The pension offers you internet- access on the pensions- PC or connecting the internet over our WiFi-WLAN- hotspot via DSL-wires with your own laptop/notebook. This service is free for our guests.

 Current

In Kas there is  current of 220V ~ which can be used with European standard-plugs. Our sockets have round holes. If your electrical equipment has plugs with flat pins, you must have an adapter (photo)! From time to time there can be power failures.

Have a swim

Kas isn't a really favorable place for a typical bathing vacation. There are some little bathing bays, partial with gravel beach. The entry to the water otherwise is possible for authorities from the cliffs over leaders also to much. Kaputas is over between gravel beach, removed by Kas approx. 25 km.
